Lavazza Espresso Machines: Creating Beverages With Lavazza Espresso Point Matinee

Lavazza espresso machines are known for their user-friendliness. Still, it is important to have a good understanding of how to properly operate these machines so that you are creating the best espresso possible. The Lavazza Espresso Point Matinee is a wonderful residential-use espresso machine that can create decadent coffee beverages with only the press of a button.

Like Lavazza BLUE espresso machines, the Lavazza Espresso Point Matinee uses cartridges to brew coffee and espresso. These cartridges are are small plastic containers that hold a pre-measured amount of Lavazza coffee grounds, so no measuring is required on the part of the user. Additionally, the user does not have to hassle with depositing messy grounds into the machine, which is one of the reasons why these machines are so popular. Before starting up your Matinee for the first time, it is imperative to find a location for it that will allow it to “breathe.” Since the machine gets hot when in use, it needs to operate in a location that has good air circulation, like a kitchen counter. A drawer will probably not provide enough circulation and could cause safety issues later on. If the Matinee is sitting far enough back from the wall on a kitchen counter, this will allow you to make coffee safely and efficiently. Fill the Matinee’s water tank, and then turn on the machine. Place your cup of choice on the Matinee’s grill. (You may select virtually any sized beverage vessel, thanks to manual as well as pre-set quantity buttons, which will be outlined later on.) Next, use the Matinee’s lever to insert a coffee pod into the pod holder. Lightly place the pod into its proper place, but do not push the pod into position with your fingers; this could prove to be unsafe due to the fact that the inner components of the Matinee get quite hot. Instead, close the lever until you can hear the pod click into place. At this point, you are reading to begin brewing your beverage!

As previously mentioned, you can use a beverage preset to brew your espresso, or you can brew manually. There are three preset beverage quantities from which to choose: Small will fill an espresso cup, medium will fill a coffee cup halfway, and large will fill a coffee cup. These options are great for brewing into an espresso or coffee cup, but sometimes it is more convenient to brew into different sized vessels, such as an insulated travel mug. In this case, the manual button can be used. If one of the preset buttons is pressed, brewing will automatically shut off once the selected quantity is reached. If you decide to press the manual brew button, liquid will dispense until the stop button is pressed. (If, for some reason, you need to stop the brewing process during a preset quantity cycle, you may do so by pressing the stop button as well.)

One great feature of the Lavazza Espresso Point Matinee is that it can perform more functions than just brewing coffee and espresso. If you would like to create cappuccino and other beverages, you can add milk to your brewed coffee and then use the Matinee’s steam spout. Simply place the spout into your cup and select the steam dispense button. Press the stop button when the desired amount of steam has been ejected, and remove the spout. The Matinee also doubles as a hot water dispenser if you are making tea, broth, or hot chocolate. Place the steam spout into your beverage vessel and press the hot water button. Water will be dispensed from the steam spout until you press the stop button.
